We will run in nominally 2 hour sessions based on patrol rotations within a session. Sessions need to be booked below. And there will be a sausage sizzle too.

There is a $5.28 cost / ticket – this covers the JOTA 2024 badge, some event costs and the TryBooking fee.
We will be operating several radio stations and activities:
- Radio Station #1: High Frequency (HF) bands (Wavelengths :40m, 20m, and 10m, or in Frequencies: 7.2MHz, 14MHz, and 28MHz) for talking to the world – best in late afternoon/evenings
- Radio Station #2: Ultra High Frequency (UHF) band (Wavelength: 70cm or 445MHz) for talking to the Repeater networks across Victoria
- Radio Station #3: Very High Frequency (VHF) band (Wavelength: 2m 0r 145MHz) for talking to the Repeaters in the Dandenongs. For this one you will be showing your pioneering skills as you have to build and erect an antenna mast!
- Radio Station #4: It’s time to float your boat! We will be operating a radio in a boat on the lake, that will operate on both the VHF and/or the UHF bands, with the ability to talk ‘back to the shore’, and into the Repeater networks (JOTA goes Maritime Mobile !)
- Go Foxhunting! It as actually called Amateur Radio Direction Finding (ARDF), but is a great exercise in the context of a Search and Rescue mission.
- Eavesdrop on the communications around the world via remote Software Defined Radios
- Listen in on the Air Traffic Control and Ground Movement radios
- Try your hand at Morse code on a Raspberry Pi
- And a few other quiet time activities
Frequencies monitored at times throughout the activity will include the Australian Scout Calling Frequencies
- 40m 7.090 MHz
- 20m 14.190 MHz
- 10m 28.590 MHz
- 2m will scan various repeaters
- 70cm will scan various repeaters
